Got admission in Bremen University for Masters(IAE) Help for accommodation for international student

Related Country: Germany by Guest on 26 Jan 2012 I am from Karachi, and I recently got an admission in Bremen University for Masters(IAE). One of my best friends told me about this such a friendly and beneficial group.

Currently i am confused about getting an accommodation in Bremen, like:

1- How to search for accommodation while i am in Karachi?
2- How to book it, and reserve it for myself while i am in Karachi?
3- I heard that it is difficult to get an accommodation in University hostels in 1st semester, and you have to search for some other way out?
4- How agreements are made with a flat/apartment owner?
5- What is the average rent in Bremen for single rooms, or shared or anything else? (I hope someone could answer this specific question already living in Bremen :-))

I thank you guys in advance and expect much more information than I asked.
Thanks again!!!

the questions can be best answered by someone living/who has lived in Bremen (which I havent!). Most cities have Studentenwerk which is a non-profit organization managing the student dorms, cafeterias etc. Here is the link for Studentenwerk Bremen: http://www.studentenwerk.bremen.de/files/main_info/wohnen/wohnen_info/wohnen_info.htm Studentenwerk Munich has an online application system and students can apply before reaching here but I didnt see anything like this on the Studentenwerk Bremen website. There are long waiting times. Try to solve the accommodation issue first. In some cities, its difficult to get an accommodation. Try contacting Pakistani students in Bremen and they will help you out. Also, if you dont get response from anyone in Bremen here, email your query on PakistanischeGemeinde yahoogroup. You can ask for information by emailing/phoning Studentenwerk Bremen. Contact info is in this section on that page: "Wie erhält man einen Platz in einer Studentenwohnanlage?" Regards,

please find my answers: 1- How to search for accommodation while i am in Karachi? Go to website of studentenwerk bremen, and apply to all the dormitories mentioned there. The website is in German so it will take a bit effort to navigate but do it as soon as possible. 2- How to book it, and reserve it for myself while i am in Karachi? The Studentedwerk accomodations can be booked from abroad, there are other accomodations, shared appartments, hostels available in the city but they cannot be booked from abroad. (In case of shared appartment/room with Pakistani students, you can reserve, but there are lots of Pakistani students comming this semester as per my knowledge none of the Pakistani appartments have free space) 3- I heard that it is difficult to get an accommodation in University hostels in 1st semester, and you have to search for some other way out? It is usually the case, but since you are comming here in Summer semester, thats not a very big problem because the university intake here is Winter only two courses (MS in IAE and CIT) have their intake in summer. The way out of it is to search for other accomodations once you get here. 4- How agreements are made with a flat/apartment owner? They give you agreement and you sign it :) how else! 5- What is the average rent in Bremen for single rooms, or shared or anything else? (I hope someone could answer this specific question already living in Bremen :-)) average rents of rooms 185-250. (includes electricity and heating bill some places internet also, i.e. you dont have to pay extra).
